Ol' Man River is heading the 15th annual ROMP Fest

I am very excited to be attending the 15th Annual ROMP Fest, hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky. The festival takes place June 27-30 and will feature headliners Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Leftover Salmon, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhiannon Giddens, The Traveling McCourys, Alison Krauss and Sam Bush as well as a number of smaller acts that always seem to surprise me at these gatherings. I will be camping on site and blogging each day with photos and a recap of the days music. The festival runs from Wednesday to Saturday and on my way out of town on Sunday I will pay  a visit to the International Bluegrass Music Museum which sits on the banks of the Ohio River, something I am really looking forward to. Owensboro is just a couple hours north of Nashville making it quite accessible for Nashville  bluegrass fans and the festival also draws fans from around the country. This will be my third Bluegrass festival this summer which started with DelFest and The John Hartford Memorial Festival and I hope to be able to attend several more this summer and keep you the listener updated with my findings. Bluegrass festival all seem to have their on personality but they all have incredible and intimate late night picking sessions throughout the campgrounds which is one of my favorite things about them. So check back Thursday and I will have a recap of the opening day.
