The Oya! Market has a new space at 2606 St. Claude. Located next to the Healing Center in the same building that used to house a Super 10, the market has transformed the real estate, revealing its architectural roots with exposed brick walls and a tin tile ceiling. The market is populated by a 50-artist nonprofit collaborative group selling the fruits of their labor. Offerings include fine art, photography, jewelry, clothing, candles, food, and natural hair/body care products. The back of the market holds a new performance space, The Nine, that will be used for music, spoken-word, community theater, dance, and open-mic nights. Rounding out the multi-purpose space are small rooms for personal care services, and a large conference room to be used for workshops or classes.

“We want it to feel like it’s an extension of the neighborhood,” spoken-word artist and Oya! mastermind Asia Rainey told the Advocate. “We want it to be the artsy place, the place. We want people to stop by for a massage, pick up some cute earrings, and stay for a performance.”
