Winter Circle Productions + WWOZ Present... "3 Chiefs: A Tribute To Big Chief Bo Dollis Sr" on Friday, February 13 at 10pm at the Joy Theater.

"3 Chiefs: A Tribute to Bo Dollis Sr ft. Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. & Big Chief Roderick Sylvas with the Wild Magnolias Mardi Gras Indian Band" will evoke the spirit of Bo Dollis Sr. with performances by those closest to him including longtime collaborator Boudreaux and Dollis' son, Bo Dollis Jr. “We ran together since day one, traveled the world together,” said Boudreaux. “Our musical bond was so powerful.”

The Wild Magnolias were the first to commercially record the unique and quickly identifiable blend of traditional Indian chants and percussion with contemporary electric funk. As the writer and singer of such famed Mardi Gras songs as Handa Wanda, Smoke My Peace Pipe, and Two Way Pak E Way, Bo Dollis Sr. will forever be an important part of Mardi Gras, New Orleans culture, and bringing Mardi Gras Indian funk to the world.

UPDATE: Ivan Neville has now been added as a guest performer at the trbute concert!
