Here's Marcia Ball, the queen of boogie-woogie piano (and a Piano Night regular), in a beautifully produced video, about a half hour long, and including performance and interview segments; in the latter, she talks about her music, Irma Thomas, New Orleans, and the wetlands, while the former delivers a fabulous set of New Orleans/Mississippi Delta blues. This is an episode of "Extended Play Sessions", a weekly television program produced by The Alternate Root and featuring top American Roots acts.

 

 

Here's a little lagniappe for you: a 1992 Marcia Ball perfomance at what the video claims is "the Roots And Rock Festival New Orleans". I've never heard of such a festival, and, from what you can see in the crowd shots, it looks kind of like the Fair Grounds...
