One of the things that saved my life after a series of unfortunate events was A Man Named Pearl. I am talking about Pearl Fryar from Bishopville South Carolina.
Pearl is an artist in the most purest form. A folk artist. A genius.
A black man in a small southern town, who worked most of his life, long hours in a factory. But that didn't stop him. He stayed up late nights, and woke early in the morning to create a fantasy garden compared to none.
No pictures, no description, no words can conjure up the extreme wonderfulness of Pearls Garden.
Pearl is a Rock Star, a Prophet, a Hero.
He has come to New Orleans and will be giving a demonstration, this Saturday, Oct. 16, plus there will be a screening of the film "A Man Named Pearl" at 1:30 $ 3:00 PM at City Park Botanical Gardens.
No matter how you get to it, don't miss A Man Named Pearl!
