Tune in Wednesday night November 11th for our special guest D.J. Truth Universal. We have been wanting to get him on the show for a long time so you are not wanting to miss it as Truth will be in during the 11:00 hour performing live. Truth Universal performs at 508 Maison on Frenchmen Street Friday November 13 with D.J. Dubla and many more. You can see him again on Saturday November 14th at Tipitina's uptown for the Hip Hop for Hope. New Orleans Hip-Hop for Hope will partner with Soundclash and Grassroots! to host HIP-HOP FOR HOPE 2009 at Tipitina’s Uptown, to benefit the Roots of Music program (www.rootsofmusic.org), 2-Cent Entertainment’s “Change We Can Create” Summer Program (www.2-Cent.com) and the Benjamin Foundation. Hip-Hop for Hope’s annual benefit concert has raised over $19,000 in the past three years for various educational programs in New Orleans. This year, the fundraising aims directly at the role of music in education. The Roots of Music program is run by Rebirth Brass Band’s own Derrick Tabb, currently nominated for a CNN Hero’s award for his efforts. The program provides music education in history, theory, instrumental instruction and ensemble performance. Furthermore, academic tutoring is offered to ensure the students maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in school. 2-Cent Entertainment’s “Change We Can Create” Summer Program empowers students through a 7-week mentorship program, while they learn how to express their voices on a variety of issues through video production. The Benjamin Foundation supports a non-profit summer camp run by Q93’s own Wild Wayne, with the mission to “get kids off the streets and provide them with academic enhancement, guidance, direction, culture, experiences and love.” Hip-Hop for Hope 2009 will feature: MIA X (www.myspace.com/xlmiax) MANNIE FRESH (www.myspace.com/manniefresh) THE SHOW (www.myspace.com/theshowno) DEE-1 (www.myspace.com/dee1music) DJ RAJ SMOOVE www.myspace.com/rajsmoove) DIZZY (www.myspace.com/dizzyakarawdi) TRUTH UNIVERSAL (www.myspace.com/truthuniversal) IMPULSS (www.myspace.com/impulss) LYRIKILL (www.myspace.com/mclyrikill) SESS 4-5 (www.myspace.com/nuthinbutfirerecords) 3DNA'TEE (www.myspace.com/3dnatee) TEAM ROBOT (www.myspace.com/teamrobot) TYGAH WOODS (www.myspace.com/tygahwoods) PHAT WORD (www.myspace.com/phatword) KOURTNEY HEART (www.myspace.com/kourtneyheart) DJ EF CUTTIN (www.myspace.com/efcuttin) DJ TONY SKRATCHERE (www.myspace.com/tonyskratchere) DJ MILES FELIX (www.reverbnation.com/DJMilesFelix) and more...
