Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" passed away today at the age of 50. One of the most popular and influential — and controversial — artists of all time, Michael Jackson rose to fame as a child star in the late 1960s, with his career peaking in the 70s and 80s with albums like Thriller and Off the Wall.
Although he will no doubt be remembered by many for the controversies surrounding his appearance and incidents at his Neverland Ranch, his music stands as a lasting contribution to American culture, and his humanitarian efforts have enriched the lives of many around him.
