Ray Brown Jr., singer, composer, arranger, drummer and pianist travels to New Orleans for a special concert on April 25th. Ray Jr., the son of jazz bassist Ray Brown and legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald headlines the event that will commemorate his mother's 92nd birthday. The event entitled "Friends and Family" is also the title of Ray's latest CD which features duets with the likes of Dionne Warwick, Dr. John, and Maria Muldaur; among others. The show takes place at Generations Hall and is presented in association wth Active Music as part of an effort to raise money for Global Green's "Rebuild New Orleans Project." Listen in at 4 p.m. February 9th for an interview that I recorded with Ray from his home in Hawaii.
