Dear WWOZ listeners and family,

I'd like to invite everyone to help celebrate my (actual) birthday with me this Friday, September 9. It's my 10th Annual Birthday Jam at Tipitina's, and this year's theme is what I'm caling the "D.C. Go-Go / New Orleans Funk Connection." Featured artists will be the mighty Chuck Brown Band of Washington DC, who have been keeping the Godfather of Go-Go's super groove sounds alive since he passed in 2012 at the age of 75. New Orleans' own New Breed Brass Band will kick off the night with that second-line party sound. And I'll throw down in between, too. And, cake! I look forward to having you celebrate with me on the dancefloor!
