Robert Mercurio holds down the bass end for the powerhouse neo-funk jam band Galactic, who have been touring the globe for over 25 years. Mercurio came to New Orleans to attend college, and absorbed the Crescent City’s uniquely funky percussive rhythms into his own border-defying style. When Galactic isn’t touring or in the studio, Mercurio can be found playing with his other bands, including Dragon Smoke, Good Enough for Good Times, and the M & Ms, with Papa Mali (Malcolm Welbourne), Galactic bandmate Stanton Moore, and John Medeski. He is also an in-demand producer who has worked with Lyrics Born, Big Freedia, Boyfriend, Greyhounds, and Porch 40. He’s performed at prestigious festivals and venues around the world, and played and recorded with an A-list roster of the contemporary funk, R&B, and hip-hop scene.
