The early August annual Satchmo SummerFest celebrates the birth of the one and only Louis Armstrong (b. August 4). This year's festival takes place August 5-7 in its new home at Jackson Square. Live bands will perform on two different stages, featuring some of New Orleans’ top musicians. Many of them will pay their tributes to Armstrong and his music.

The music schedule, as announced in June, is listed below. For the most up-to-date schedule, be sure to check http://fqfi.org/satchmo.

Be sure to check out the events and talks happening in this year's Satchmo Symposium, as well; they're listed below the music schedule. Each year, the Symposium features many of the foremost experts on Louis Armstrong and his era of jazz.
