An epic Mass in memory of New Orleans music legend Wardell Quezergue will be celebrated on Palm Sunday (March 24) at 4 p.m. at the Corpus Christi - Epiphany Catholic Church, at 2022 St Bernard Avenue.  The Mass will include the debut of a Passion set to music by Quezergue, who died in 2011.

It was Quezergue's dying wish to see the story of the Crucifixion produced in an epic composition, said fellow musician Jay Griggs in a press release.

Quezergue was the "Creole Beethoven," known for composing religious music as well as jazz and blues production and arranging.  His Creole Mass, performed in 2000, required 241 musicians.

This Mass has a limited seating of 450, and those wishing to attend are advised to come early.  Admission is free, and there are no reservations.
