WWOZ show host Tom Morgan is one of the many programmers on WWOZ who enjoy compiling shows about food during the holiday season. Be sure to tune in to the New Orleans Music Show on Tuesday, November 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Tom's annual holiday special in which all the songs he plays are about food.
It covers all genres of music, but stays true to the New Orleans Music Show, in that most of the songs are from New Orleans and Louisiana artists. A few examples would be Louis Armstrong's "All that Meat and Potatoes," Danny Barkers' "Ham and Eggs," Chubby Carrier's "Who Stole the Hot Sauce" and Dave Bartholomew's "Shrimp and Gumbo."
New songs are added each year as they are discovered — last year the big find was Cousin Joe's "I Never Harmed an Onion." It's a fun way to ring in the holiday season and, unlike many other things having to do with the holidays and food, listening to the show is non-fattening.
