2008 Bayou Boogaloo

Published on: May 20th, 2008

The Bayou Boogaloo is a free admission music and visual arts festival held in the heart of New Orleans on the banks of Bayou St. John. The Bayou Boogaloo was founded in 2006 to restore the social fabric of Mid-City and the surrounding neighborhoods in the wake of hurricane Katrina, to reconnect neighbors and neighborhoods, and to provide hope for the future of the city through a celebration of New Orleans' rich cultural heritage.

There are four stages of activity including a children's stage and an arts fair. The performances are a mixture of Mardi Gras Indians, brass bands, reggae, singer-songwriter and so much more. WWOZ will be broadcasting live from the festival on Friday night and all day on Saturday. Check out the live broadcast schedule for more information.
