Membership Basics

When will my membership be due for renewal?

Your membership expires one year from your last renewal contribution. We'll send you renewal notices starting a few months before that time. The sooner you respond to a renewal request, the more money it saves WWOZ in mailing costs, so please consider responding ASAP! If you have any questions, please call (504) 568-1239 or send an email to membership@wwoz.org.

Why did I receive a reminder when I already sent my contribution?

Sometimes, your payment gets credited to your membership file after we send renewal notices or pledge reminders. If you have mailed or called in your gift already, you may receive another reminder. Please disregard the extra reminder and accept our apologies. Occasionally, your payment may not have been recorded as a renewal. If you are concerned, contact Membership at (504) 568-1239 or send an email to membership@wwoz.org.

Is my credit card information stored in my membership profile?

For your protection, we do not store your credit card information. So there is no problem in using a different credit card when you renew online or by phone.

Will WWOZ give out my mailing address, phone number or email address?

How can I change my mailing address?

If you move, please send an email to membership@wwoz.org or call (504) 568-1239 with both your old and new mailing addresses. Your updated address information helps WWOZ save money in mailing costs, so please keep us in mind as you update information!

How do I get off your mailing list?

Before you move, please send an email to membership@wwoz.org or call (504) 568-1239 and ask to have all mailings stopped.

Thank You Gifts

Where is my Brass Pass or OverPass?

For security reasons, we do not mail out Brass or OverPasses. Several opportunities will be made available prior to Jazz Fest for you to pick up your passes. And of course, we will have WWOZ will call at Jazz Fest. Please check our website as we get closer to Jazz Fest for all the Brass Pass / OverPass pickup information. If you are out of town, have an account with Fed-Ex and wish us to ship your pass, please contact membership@wwoz.org with that information.

When will my thank you gift arrive?

If you requested a thank you gift when you made your pledge, you'll receive your thank you gifts 4 to 6 weeks after our Fall 2008 Membership Drive, which will be October 6 to 16. If it has been longer than that, please contact Membership at (504) 568-1239 or send an email to membership@wwoz.org and we're happy to investigate. We appreciate your patience.

Can I get thank you gifts from past membership drives?

It is sometimes possible to receive thank you gifts from previous pledge drives, depending on what we have left over. Send an email to membership@wwoz.org or call membership at (504) 568-1239 to find out if a particular item is available and at what pledge level. You can also check out the WWOZ Swamp Shop for additional WWOZ stuff.

What is the best way to contact WWOZ?

What is the recommended contribution for a basic membership?

WWOZ is all about inclusion, not exclusion, so every gift of any amount makes you a member. We have faith that members will give the most they can because they believe in the music and mission of this listener-supported radio station.

Is my pledge contribution tax-deductible?

Your pledge contributions to WWOZ are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by U.S. law, less the fair market value of any thank you gifts that we sent you. The fair market value is the retail value of the gift, not the amount that WWOZ paid for it. For your convenience, your membership thank you letter lists the fair market value of all WWOZ thank you gifts. If you received one or more gifts, subtract the stated value of each gift to determine your tax-deductible contribution. Please consult your tax advisor if you have questions about the deductibility of your pledge contribution.

My employer participates in the employee matching gift program. How do I enroll?

You may be able to double your donation to WWOZ. Please check with your employer to find out whether they participate in a Corporate Matching Gifts program. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, WWOZ, as Friends of WWOZ, is eligible for these programs. Simply obtain a matching gift form from your Human Resources Department and send it to WWOZ, along with your membership contribution:

Can I sponsor a membership for someone else?

Yes, you can sponsor a gift membership for someone else. You pay for the membership (at any level), and the other person receives the benefits. Please call (504) 568-1239 to arrange this.

How can I include WWOZ in my estate plans?

A planned gift for WWOZ can be an outright gift, a life income gift, or a charitable bequest, and it can be made during your lifetime or at the time of death.
