This small-group camp is designed for musicians ages 8-12 to be immersed in music making, movement and arts and crafts in a fun, challenging, mixed-age setting. In addition to group activities with an emphasis on instrumental ensemble, time will be allotted for semi-independent self-selection among a variety of hands-on centers and optional opportunities will be provided to mentor younger music learners. Instruments available for exploration and guided practice include hand percussion, mallet percussion, keyboard, electric bass and drum set. Participants will explore a variety of styles, playing by ear and by note, and support will be available for music theory as well. Musicians who already play a horn or stringed instrument are invited to bring those as well. Registrants are asked to pack a nut-free lunch and a healthy snack. Note: Siblings are Half Off and there is a 25% discount for registering for more than one week of camp.
