The Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center is thrilled to present the first modern dance festival of its kind on the Gulf Coast! By offering professional level master classes and two choreographic showcases, Fall Dance Festival 2016 celebrates the visions and accomplishments of southern modern dance choreographers. Three professional dance companies from New Orleans (Tsunami Dance, Known Mass and KM Dance Project) and one from Ocean Springs, MS (Summer Baldwin & Leif Anderson) were selected for the festival to teach a master class and present excerpts of their work at the Formal Choreography Showcase. An Informal Choreography Showcase will also be held to provide emerging southern modern dance choreographers the opportunity to share their work-in-progress dance pieces with the local dance community and audiences. The vision of the festival is to promote the growth of a professional Gulf Coast dance scene and to build the awareness of dance as an art form for local audiences.
