*Y'all... Painted Memories of the South* Book Release and Signing by Judi Goolsby

Saturday, October 8, 2016 - 6:00pm
On Saturday, October 8th, Antieau Gallery will be celebrating the release of Judi Goolsby’s book, Y’all… Painted Memories of the South. The opening reception, which will take place in the Antieau Gallery picturesque courtyard, will feature several of Goolsby’s original works, and the artist will be present to sign copies of her newly-released book. The event will take place alongside Antieau Gallery’s permanent collection of fabric-applique’ artworks by Chris Roberts-Antieau. The reception begins at 6pm. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Judi Goolsby and her art are unmistakably Southern. Her mixed-media narrative paintings are rooted in childhood memories, impressions, and emotions. At times figurative and at others symbolic, her artworks merge nostalgia with love and hope, all within a single frame. From recollecting her father’s untimely passing in Okinawa during World War II, to the onrush of remembered sensations conjured by her grandmother’s Louisiana porch, Y’all… Painted Memories of the South can be enjoyed as a series of snapshots. As each snapshot comes into focus, a new element of Goolsby’s life story emerges. Her poetic words and evocative images evoke both a memoir and an homage to Southern childhood. The book release and signing of Y’all… Painted Memories of the South will be a one-night only event on October 8th, 6:00-9:00PM. Antieau Gallery is located at 927 Royal Street in the French Quarter.
