The dance community will host July Jubilee, a month-long celebration of dance in New Orleans. July Jubilee’s main events are the $5 Dance Class Challenge and the National Dance Day Celebration. Local participation in National Dance Day is being orchestrated by the New Orleans Dance Network, an organization formed in January 2015 to serve the dance community by promoting the visibility and viability of dance in the greater New Orleans area. This year’s National Dance Day Celebration will be held at the New Orleans Recreation Department Commission (NORDC) Treme Center on July 30, 2016 from 9am-4pm. The free festivities will include demo classes from local dance studios, youth and professional dance performances, and a flash mob.
